McDonalds Gluten Free
Did you know that you can get McDonalds gluten free food? If you are one of the more than two million people who must eat a diet free of gluten, then one of the biggest challenges you face is eating out, particularly fast food. We have all incorporated fast food into our modern, fast paced lives. Cooking at home is great and certainly a wise choice. But it's not always practical, and not always fun! Who doesn't like to enjoy a quick bite out on a shopping day, or an outing with friends? And how awful does it feel to be cut out of the fun because you can't have what everyone else is eating?
Fortunately some of the more popular fast food restaurants have heard your requests and responded with foods you can eat. The biggest is of course McDonald's, and they have heard their customers and provided a listing of the gluten free foods on their menu.
McDonald's commitment to the quality of their fries, their "signature" product, provides a fortunate side benefit for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. They cook their fries in separate, dedicated fryers at the front. Everything else goes in different fryers at the grill. Oils are not ever mixed, so oil used for cooking fries is never cross contaminated. Their fries were tested for gluten, independently, and no gluten was found. Reviewers with celiac disease report they can eat them with no reaction. In fact, McDonald's fries are considered to be safer than most fast food out there.
The fact that they keep their oils separate, and filter them separately, not only relieves just the worry of gluten contaminated oil making its way into the French fry oil. It's also good news for vegetarians, because oil used to cook meat is never used to cook fries. In these respects at least, McDonald's has shown a responsible attitude toward customers' safety and needs. For your convenience, here is a list of what is safe for you to eat at McDonald's.
